Oncology Massage 24-hour Foundation Program

2012 Workshops

Nationally accredited, cancer center based, 3-day workshop introduces touch practitioners; massage therapists, estheticians, and healthcare professionals, to the bodywork considerations presented by an oncology clientele. Workshop time is shared between clinical considerations review and bodywork, preparing practitioners with the knowledge to provide clinically safe and therapeutic touch. Day 3 includes an oncology client massage.

Oncology Massage Workshop objectives: Understand the primary considerations in providing bodywork for people in or with a history of cancer treatment. Evaluate bodywork site, positioning and pressure modifications that pertain to medical devices, surgical procedures and drug treatment related side effects. Review current clinical research about massage in the oncology setting. Identify acupressure points useful in addressing some common cancer treatment related side effects.
